On one hand it kinda is BS. But that 'subscription' has never really been an actual service. Like the name supporter implies, its just a voluntary fee to support the site. So all the perks comming with it, are just silly easthetic things.

I feel you... I also think users shouldn't be able to change their account names, but on the other hand, people could always just create a new account and delete their old one afterwards, so I can see where they're coming from.
And it beats seeing NG having to shut down forever. (Hosting stuff for free is not a profitable business...)
